Just when you think you’ve got a handle on settling the kids or grandkids back into school, October can come at you with cascading events. 

It’s half term in Scotland already, Halloween filtered into the shops weeks ago, then it will be Guy Fawkes and it won’t be long before the world that some don’t mention til the first of December runs amok in our lives! 

We like to lean into the classics in October.  October celebrates orange.  This is sometimes tricky colour works wonderfully in autumn because this is the time when layers are your best friend. Temperatures fluctuate and the weather can turn from gorgeous to monsoon in a flash. 

If you’ve been continuing to work on your wardrobe, stripping out what no longer serves you, now is a good time to keep sorting your clothes into outfits ready for the week. 

For example, you might have one of our signature tunics like Hannah whose tulip silhouette is so flattering for those of us with smaller chests and bigger hips.  This year there is apple green so that the linen Lagenlook classic can liven up. Of course, it’s from our Made in Italy collection.  Only the Italians could be so clever! If you wear it with our Paolina faux suede taupe boots you really feel dressed for the day but also fun and dancing.  It will sashay when you walk .If you feel the need for a little kitchen dancing in the morning you can “shake it shake it” like Taylor Swift! Classic femininity with a fun twist. 

And you could add a witches’ hat for Halloween or buy it in paprika to be a svelte pumpkin as you troop the kids round the doors in the dark.  In Scotland, it’s guising and the kids must at least tell a joke or sing.  If only the trick-or-treaters did that too! 

Don't for a minute think that the week’s outfits need to be set in stone; you can still channel your inner creativity, flaunt your favourite florals, or subtly style up a sophisticated outfit to impress at work.  Accessories are the answer.
